A temporary resident visa is an official document issued by a visa office abroad that is placed in your passport to show that you have met the requirements for admission to Canada as a temporary resident (either as a visitor, student, or worker).
A visa may be for a single entry, for multiple entries, or for transit purposes.

Documents required for a Temporary Resident Visa application are:
2 recent original passport size photos (2 inches x 1.5 to 2 inches in size)
Personal Information Form
Use of a Representative form (IMM 5476)
Current Passport
Personal documentation of applicant:
Proof of employment (letter from employer confirming salary and length of employment.
Salary statements for the past 3 months. Most recent retirement funds statement.
Proof of personal funds
• Income Tax Returns for the past two years
• Bank Statements / bank books for last 03 months
You must satisfy the immigration officer that you meet the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and Regulations and that you will be in Canada for a temporary stay.
You must also:
satisfy an officer that you will leave Canada at the end of the Visa period
show that you have enough money to maintain yourself and your family members in Canada untill you return the country of residence
no intent to work or study in Canada unless authorized to do so;
be law abiding and have no record of criminal activity (you may be asked to provide a Police Clearance Certificate);
must not be a security risk to Canada;
produce any additional documents requested by the officer to establish your admissibility;
- be in good health (complete a medical examination, if required).
Temporary resident visa holders except student and workers are strongly advised to present a return ticket upon entry into Canada. Port of entry officers may want to see proof that the person entering Canada will leave before the expiry of their authorized period of stay.
Your passport should be valid for the whole duration of your stay in Canada. The Port of entry officer may limit your stay into Canada till before the expiry date of your passport.
Yes, Temporary resident visa holders who wish to extend their stay or apply for change of status while in Canada can apply for extension from within Canada.
No, You must leave Canada before the visa expires.
For longer stays, you may require a medical examination. If a medical examination is required, you will be informed by an officer who will send you instructions on how to proceed.
